Black pepper is a commonly used spice in many parts of the world. Through its active ingredient Piperine, black pepper can alter the metabolism of supplements and drugs.

Piperine inhibits a process called glucuronidation in the liver, which attaches a molecule (glucuronide) to the drug to indicate its urinary excretion. This process can prevent excessive amounts of drugs and supplements in the body, but sometimes inhibits the intake of all drugs and makes certain supplements useless. In the case of ingestion of piperine, the excretion of supplements is hindered, and certain drugs and supplements can bypass this adjustment phase.

In some cases, this is good practice because piperine needs to provide curcumin to the limbs, rather than ingested through glucuronidation in the liver. However, in some other cases, it may cause the level of certain drugs in the blood to increase. Similarly, depending on the situation, the increase may be good or bad. In any case, extreme care should be taken when approaching the compound.

Black pepper and black pepper plants have been used in traditional Oriental medicine for centuries to treat gastrointestinal discomfort, pain, inflammation and other diseases.

Previous studies have shown that piperine can reduce the fat content in the blood. In addition to weight loss, it is also recommended to participate in increasing the absorption of other nutrients in the body. It is also suggested that the extract has anti-cancer properties, can enhance cognitive function and provide antidepressant effects.

Researchers say that although traditional uses have a long history and new research shows widespread benefits, researchers still don’t know much about how piperine can help weight management at the cellular level.

Researchers studied the potential mechanism of black pepper extract and its constituent piperine's anti-lipid activity-found that both black pepper extract and piperine strongly inhibited the adipocyte differentiation of 3T3-L1 cells without affecting cytotoxicity.

"We found that pepper pepper extract and its constituent piperine can reduce lipid storage in 3T3-L1 cells and prevent them from differentiating into fat cells."

They found that both black pepper extract and piperine can reduce the expression levels of key transcription factors related to adipogenesis, including PPARγ, SREBP-1c and C/EBPβ.

Researchers believe that in doing so, the compound may also trigger a metabolic chain reaction, helping to inhibit fat in other ways.

They added that these findings may lead to more widespread use of piperine or black pepper extract in the fight against obesity and related diseases. If you want to know more about black pepper extract, please contact Nutra-Herb Ingredient Inc.
