Background

Stimulation of the immune system and antioxidant defense in poultry has been a topical issue since the introduction of the  ban on the use of antibiotics as growth promoters in  animal  feed. The  beneficial influence of herbs on gut microbiota in monogastric animals has been widely researched. Herbs and spices contain numerous active ingredients which can exert various effects (bactericidal, immunomodulatory and antioxidant) on animals. Thus, they can affect the health  status and productivity of animals as well as the quality of animal products. Herbs and herbal extracts have been used in poultry production for years. Nutrappetite-1 is one of such herbal formulations. Due to the presence of multiple active ingredients, Nutrappetite-1 may exert multidirectional effects on animals, including the stimulation of their growth, performance and digestion.

 

Formulation and Preparation

Effects of Codonopsis pilosula on digestive and inmun system:

1. Codonopsis pilosula polysaccharide was given to rats by oral administration of 50mg / kg or 250mg / kg, which had a very significant inhibitory effect on stress ulcer (P < 0.001). Codonopsis pilosula Decoction (20g / kg) also has a very obvious inhibitory effect on the ulcer of rats caused by the water immersion stress of goushu. In the stress state, the basic rhythm of gastric electricity is disordered, the gastric movement is strengthened, and the gastric emptying is obviously accelerated. After 40 g / kg of Codonopsis pilosula decoction, it can protect the stress-induced gastric ulcer and inhibit the changes of gastric electricity and gastric movement.

2. The protective effect on the ulcer model of pylorus ligation rats: the oral administration of Codonopsis pilosula polysaccharide 500 and 250mg / kg has certain protective effect on pylorus ligation experimental gastric ulcer. Codonopsis pilosula Decoction (20g / kg) and Codonopsis pilosula n-butanol neutral extract (5.0g / kg) had significant preventive and protective effects on pylorus ligated gastric ulcer in rats (P < 0.01).

3. The protective effect of Codonopsis pilosula Decoction on gastric mucosa in rats with anhydrous ethanol injury: Codonopsis pilosula decoction can significantly reduce the injury of anhydrous ethanol on gastric mucosa, the incidence of injury was 40% (control 100%), the injury index was 147.8 ± 59.38, while dangshen group was 8.95 ± 15.59 (P < 0.01), the inhibition rate was 93.94%.

4. Effects on immune function: Codonopsis pilosula and its polysaccharides can increase the number of macrophages, cell volume, pseudopodia and phagocytic capacity; the activities of DNA, RNA, sugars, ACP enzyme, ATPase, acid esterase and amber dehydrogenase in cells are significantly enhanced. After the determination of the apparent differential photometer, the contents of various chemical components in macrophages are significantly increased There was significant difference between the two groups. Codonopsis pilosula can also significantly promote DNA and protein biosynthesis of lymphocytes activated by ConA, and the optimal concentration of DNA synthesis is 100 μ g / ml. Effect of Astragalus:

Efficacy of Poria cocos:

1. Antibacterial effect: Poria cocos 100% decoction has inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, proteus, etc. Poria cocos has no bacteriostatic effect on the test tube. The ethanol extract of Poria cocos can kill Leptospira in vitro, but the decoction is ineffective.

2. Effect on digestive system: Poria cocos has direct relaxation effect on the isolated intestine of rabbits, has preventive effect on the ulcer caused by pylorus ligation of rats, and can reduce gastric acid. In addition, it has obvious protective effect on CCl4 induced liver injury, which can reduce the activity of alanine aminotransferase and prevent liver cell necrosis.

3. Effect of Poria cocos polysaccharide on immune function: increase the cytotoxic effect of macrophages: Poria cocos polysaccharide, hydroxyethyl Poria cocos polysaccharide-3, hydroxyethyl Poria cocos polysaccharide-4, intraperitoneal injection can significantly enhance the cytotoxic effect of peritoneal exudate cells (PEC) in mice; Poria cocos polysaccharide, hydroxyethyl Poria cocos polysaccharide-1, hydroxyethyl Poria cocos polysaccharide-2 also have some effects. The results showed that the new carboxymethylporia cocos polysaccharide could enhance the cytotoxicity of PEC and increase the phagocytic rate and phagocytic index. The phagocytosis rate and phagocytosis index of peritoneal macrophages were increased by 35.5% and 58.0% respectively at 50 mg / kg for 5 days, and 66.1% and 121% respectively at 50 mg / kg for 10 days. The new methylporia cocos polysaccharide can also antagonize the inhibition of cortisone acetate on macrophage function. The new carboxymethylporia cocos polysaccharide was injected subcutaneously into mice for 10 days (50mg / kg. The results showed that the phagocytic rate and phagocytic index were: (1) 39.60 ± 4.86% and 0.99 ± 0.20 in normal mice group; (2) 24.44 ± 3.38% and 0.55 ± 0.10 in Lewis lung cancer group; 59.26 ± 6.50% and 1.30 ± 0.21 in Lewis lung cancer plus new carboxymethylporia cocos polysaccharide group. 24 hours after subcutaneous inoculation of sarcoma 180 cells in Swiss mice, new carboxymethylporia cocos polysaccharide (50mg / kg / day) was injected subcutaneously for 10 days. The results showed that the phagocytic rate and phagocytic index were: (1) 26.88 ± 4.57% and 0.74 ± 0.11 in tumor bearing group; (2) 45.92 ± 4.13% and 1.57 ± 0.12 in tumor bearing and new carboxymethylporia cocos polysaccharide group. In addition, the new carboxymethylporia cocos polysaccharide can significantly improve the phagocytic rate and phagocytic index of mouse peritoneal macrophages. The phagocytic rate of peritoneal macrophages was 38 ± 2.46% and phagocytic index was 0.67 ± 0.04 in mice injected with new carboxymethylporia cocos polysaccharide (300mg / kg / day) for 7 days; the phagocytic rate of control group was 19.4 ± 1.27% and phagocytic index was 0.32 ± 0.02.

 

Effect of Massa Medicata Fermentata:

Massa Medicata Fermentata contains a lot of yeast and B vitamins. Dry yeast also contains a variety of B vitamins, so this product has B vitamin like effect, such as improving appetite, maintaining normal digestive function, etc.

Effect of Hawthorn berry:

1. It can promote digestion. It contains lipase, which can promote fat digestion, increase the secretion of digestive enzymes and promote digestion. It has a certain regulatory effect on gastrointestinal function, an inhibitory effect on hyperactive duodenal smooth muscle, and a slight contractile effect on relaxed gastric smooth muscle. 3. Hawthorn has strong antibacterial effect on Shigella, Shigella flexneri and Shigella sonnei, and on Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus B. E. coli, proteus, anthrax, diphtheria, typhoid, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc. also have antibacterial effect; generally, the effect on Gram-positive bacteria is stronger than that on Gram-negative bacteria.

 

Effect of areca nut:

1. Areca catechu has insect repellent effect

Application of Nutrappetite-1 powder in weight gain and feed conversion of Broilers

Wang Huizhen, et al. From Agricultural College of Hebei University of engineering, fed broilers with different doses of Nutrappetite-1 powder. After 30 days, the average weight gain of each chick increased by 5.8%, 8.7% and 5.4% respectively compared with the control group. After 30 days, the feed conversion rate of 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.5% groups increased by 0.63%, 3.3% and 1.02% respectively. So 0.2% dosage was the best dosage for the weight gain and feed conversion rate of broilers.

 

Dosage:

2 kg Nutrappetite-1 powder is the best addition to 100 kg feed.
